Accolades – What our guests say

What a wonderful place in paradise to stay. Your hospitality was fantastic. Fresh flowers in each room on arrival as well as fresh fruit, bread milk etc. A great touch. We loved coming home each night after skiing/walking to a lovely warm fire. The cottage is so homely with fantastic views from each window.

Once again thank you for a very enjoyable stay in your lovely cottage. Although we were busy skiing, fishing , touring, adventuring and go-karting this stay has been relaxing! It is so nice to get away from the bustling city to this lovely haven each year.

A lovely stay, we were made to feel very welcome, we couldn’t have been better looked after. It really is the most beautiful place to stay, sorry to leave.

Having spent many visits here – all have been delightful experiences. We love the comfort – it’s a home from home atmosphere – and the wonderful relationship we have built up over the years.

We truly LOVED staying here for a couple of weeks. We really appreciated your hospitality and fresh vegetables. Thanks also for caring about how my Wanaka half race went! New Zealand is quite far from home for us, but we are hoping to make it to lake Hawea another time soon.

We decided to stay overnight around Lake Hawea, and spotted a sign to the Bellbird Cottage, close enough to give it a try. Bellbird Cottage is in a lovely setting, luxurious and yes, was a very good rate.
Our host showed us the cottage, brought in fresh fruits and freshly cut roses and got the fire started. We quickly felt at home and decided to take advantage of the fully equipped kitchen and cook our own dinner.
e had a second morning coffee with our host and their neighbours at their regular get together. We learned more about the area, the lake and how all of them ended up in such a nice place.
Ulrich , a neighbour, moved here from Switzerland and is now dedicating his time to professional photography. He is using large and medium format cameras like Sinai and Hasselblad to create stunning nature and wildlife photography. My camera equipment looks in comparison like toys.
later in the day we went for a longer walk along the shore of the lake and enjoyed the beautiful scenery and tranquillity.
